Eight - Saber
My bb is leaving, but Mary's coming to see me this week and I get to go home for the weekend so~ =D

Do any of you ladies have large-ish chests and know a good place to buy things like button-down shirts from? I'm not hugely endowed, but I'm 36C-26-36 and none of mine ever fit. They always have that busting at the buttons look in the chestal region. I really want some nice new shirts but I like them to be fitted in the waist as well as the chest and I don't know where to find ones that are tailored correctly without having to actually get them tailored, because I don't have much money. So if anyone knows of a place that happens to make shirts that fit that kind of shape well, that'd be awesome.

If they came in something other than white, that'd be doubly awesome.
Every opinion is special

I use Steve and Barry's, if you've got one. Or Old Navy?

Ooh, I've never heard of Steve and Barry's, but apparently there are ones in places that are accessible to me. And I haven't shopped at Old Navy in a while, I guess because their jeans have never fit me at all so I just haven't gone there, but I can try that too. Thanks!

I feel your pain. Actually, I am a 36D or DD depending on brand, and that after I had breast reduction surgery. D:

Old Navy is nice. Steve and Barry's- try the Sarah Jessica Parker line (nicer curves). Also, if you have the money, New York and company make excellent shirts.

36DD pride. Come to NYC someday... we have lingerie boutiques that make the ladies look good. My suggestion would be for the petites section of Nordstrom--I've found some nice button-down shirts there, although I doubt that they carry anything in non-neutral colors like plaid. Apparently Filene's has been known to carry good professional clothing, but I haven't been to investigate as yet. Avoid Forever 21/Charlotte Russe/H&M, of course--their upper-end styles were by and large designed for the chestless, although I love their normal clothing (when it looks good on me).

No. If you find one, let me know?

Actually, I've bought one or two at Kohl's, but I still had to search. I think they're Apt. 9, specifically, and they're cute and comfortable, too. But I've never really found a place that was a jackpot of button-downs.

That might be what I do first. Just go to Kohl's and try on everything in the store until I get lucky. Even though somehow their dressing rooms make me feel terrible about my body in a way that no other store's ever have.

I'm 34C and American Eagle has fabulous clothes all-around. I have a few blouses from there that fit fine. They're kinda pricey, but very worth it.

Staaay away from JCPenny's though, they're the worst with busts.

I might try AE because they have plaid shirts, and I really want plaid shirts right now. They are a little expensive, but maybe I can find a way to get a discount or something. Wait for a sale.

I'm not sure how it would all work out with shipping etc, but this place does shirts and things specifically for curvy women.
14th-Sep-2008 10:34 pm (UTC)
Ouch, I think that might be too expensive for me with the exchange rate what it is. D: I usually am wary of clothes specifically for curvy women because I get the feeling my waist is too small, just like I'm wary of clothes for tall women because I'm just too small all around.

Yeah, I have the same problem, I'm 38-28-38 but I've found their sizing to be quite reliable. They have their own sizing system depending on your waist measurement compared to your bust measurement here. Looks like you would be a size 8 super curvy?

Anyway, the pound is going down the toilet, so maybe if you hang around enough prices will look better xDDD I would say it's worth it, I have a shirt from them and it's really a life saver as it's the only shirt I own that's presentable.

I second bravissimo, their bras are amazing :O

There are styles of shirts specifically for busty women (at places like Wal-mart, for sure, but probably at other big chain stores like that) which have an extra button at the area where the shirt normally spreads apart. I'm not sure if they are as fitted at the waist as you're looking (since you're unusually tiny in the waist, damn you xD) but it's worth a shot.

I know I normally have to just wear a button-down shirt open with a tank top underneath, because I can't normally find good button-down shirts for a 40DDD chest.

Your subject line made me think of this: http://www.cafepress.com/icanseerussia

I have no idea, but if you find something, point me in the direction as well and help a sister out. ;)

I'm a 32DD and I always buy mine from Dunne's Stores... basically the Irish equivalent of like Target.

They do tend to be slightly tight around the bust and if you stand sideways to me and look you can see my bra but hey they work. If you get one made of a stretchy material they tend to fit fine.

Oh, the woes of having massive boobs and very little else ;-; swimsuits are the thing i can never buy....

The shirts at Express fit really well and we have tons of different colors. I'm 34C and have the same problem as you, but they fit really well and even go in at the waist.

So, I recommend there. And yes, partly because I work there, but our shirts are really nice. XD

Though I may fit part of your criteria, I am fashion-dumb. My mom actually buys most of my clothes because I hate shopping, and she'll just come back with stuff all, "Heeey, I got you something!"

But button-down shirts is something I have never, ever ever seen fit right. They're either made for fatties or flatties. I hate button-down shirts 'cause the ones I wear just hang off my chest and make me look like more of a whale than I actually am D=

I agree with Target and Steve & Barry's.

I'm an H/I. All I can say is BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Women over a B cup aren't supposed to look nice or wear button down shirts. We're doomed to sweaters and mumus for the rest of our lives.

I wish I knew. I'm like D/DD and I just avoid button down shirts in general. I know there's a product out there to put in the gaps of the shirt to tape em closed... I can look it up for you if you really wanna know.
